Since the Club’s inception in 2003, following the World Championships in Poznan, Poland, our aim has been to develop within the membership a desire to achieve excellence in performance while balancing the needs of family and profession. This path is built on our dedication to a healthy lifestyle, hard work and a commitment to make a valued contribution within our community. It is our pride in the club, our passion for the sport and our commitment to our dragon boat family that drives this balance.
Our goals are to foster a positive club and team identity within our membership through our training, competing and community volunteering. In addition, we strive to create an atmosphere where our members feel valued, respected and have the opportunity to develop their potential within a team setting.
Since inception, the Club has developed into a cohesive, tight-knit group of athletes; constantly pushing and encouraging each other to reach new heights, and pulling together to accomplish team goals.
I joined CSDC in 2010 after eight years of paddling for a corporate team. In just over a year I have paddled at the Canadian National Championships in Whistler, British Columbia. Paddled at the World Club Crew Championships in Macau, China and earned the opportunity to represent Canada at the 2011 World Championships in Tampa, Florida.
How can you place a value on representing your country for the first time at fifty one? Amazing!! It would not have been possible without the opportunity to train with top level coaches and a terrific group of athletes that push me each and every time I'm on the water and in the gym.
Cheers,
